Yabba Dabba Do: What's Going On

Yabba Dabba Do: What’s Going On

April 29, 2019 by Tanya // 8 Comments

I know. Yabba Dabba Do? Seriously, Tanya? Are you nuts? Nope. Maybe? Or I’m just in a Yabba Dabba Do kind of mood. You know – the kind where you’re feeling a bit goofy and loving it? So you just roll in your Yabba Dabba Do-ness and share all the things you’re loving, enjoying, secretly desiring/hating and so on.

A Few Things On My Mind

My mind is a dangerous place and should have its own warning. Danger to all ye who enter. We frankly don’t recommend you do and have issued a travel advisory warning against visiting Tanya’s mind. It’s frankly weird.

Okay. Maybe not super weird. But a little weird … as all good mind’s are.

Yo, I’m Reading Again

Say it with me, please: Hallelujah and Praise the Book Gods. Seriously. SAY. IT. My book slump began almost a year ago and it’s been hard because reading is my favorite pastime and my happy place, but I found little joy in my beloved books last year. It’s like I lost my inner Jane Austen, Harry Potter and all things murdery. But in March I felt a bit more like me and even more so last month, although I’m not fully back to devouring everything in sight but more like inconsistent binge reading. I’ll voraciously read for a few days and then not even want to open a book for a week. But I’ll take it.

books I'm reading: Discovery of Witches and The Red Sparrow Trilogy

Umm … one weird thing is that I’ve been re-reading, a lot. Discovery of Witches and The Red Sparrow Trilogy which together add up to a little over 2,000 words (well, I skimmed most of Kremlin’s Candidate as I forgot I did not like it). I wasn’t kidding when I said I was a re-reader. And yes, I am reading new-to-me books too. Ya know, so I can reread them later. 😀

Sandra Oh is Oh So Amazing

I was never a big Grey’s Anatomy fan but I always liked Sandra Oh. Now I’m a little bit in love with her. She’s so freaking amazing in Killing Eve. It’s kind of weird and delicious and wonderful. I love its proudly female focus and gaze. The women are smart, sexy, obsessive, angry, devious and kick-ass. The kind of things men are almost always allowed to be and women are not, especially more than one woman at a time.

What’s Irritating The Piss Out of Me

I’ve avoiding anything political because almost everything political makes my eye twitch.

  • Avengers: Endgame Runtime of 3 Hours. So add in previews and you’re looking at 3 1/2 hours. People, I have a teeny tiny bladder. This is not good. Not good at all. Honestly, I’d skip it but my BFF is adamant that we go and teeny tiny bladder is not an acceptable excuse. So this is literally going to irritate the piss out of me and I may need to wear an adult diaper. (Didn’t go this weekend but heard it’s worth it but still concerned at the runtime. Seriously small bladder here!)
  • Dry Skin. It’s been horrible lately. I typically have dry skin year-round but it’s oddly really bad during that awkward period of not Winter but not really Spring either. Ya know, 80 one day and then 60 the next. If you have a lotion recommendation (for both body and/or face), please share!
  • Swimsuits. I hate you. Enuff said.

What I’m Loving Right Now

Juice by Lizzo is on repeat these days. Heard you say I’m not the baddest bitch, ya lie.

Amen, sister. Amen.

Happy Monday Everyone

Blerch, right? It’s Monday and ain’t no one happy about it. But this guy. This guy can help get you through Monday with a smile.

Your Turn

So now you tell me what’s on your mind! Are you in a yabba dabba do state of mind? Or is that just a Tanya thing?

You stay in that yabba-dabba mood my friend!!!
YAHOO for the reading slump to be over with. I actually WANT to re-read some books so I’m kinda jealous that’s where you’re at.
Hey – if you’re worried about that little bladder (I was too) – take note of that cheat sheet that tells you when to do potty breaks… though honestly, I was shocked I made it too without a potty break. Seriously, You get so into it, you forget you need to go – or you just pee on yourself & go on with it 😉 haha

I think if I don’t get a drink and make sure not to drink anything an hour or so before the movie, I’ll be okay. I mean I’ll have to race to restroom as soon as the movie is over, but that’s fine. LOL! I’ve done more rereading than new reading at this point but that’s cool. I’m just glad to be reading again!

Dry skin really drives me nuts when I’m laying in bed & everything itches!
I’m a fan of Lizzo. One of her other songs was on repeat on my “favorites” playlist for a long time.
Yay for reading more!! Now I’m in a bit of a slump. Sigh.

OMG! I hate that when it happens. And it’s like all you can think about is how itchy you are, which just makes it worse. What was the Lizzo you had on repeat? I haven’t had the time to fully vet her new album but heard it’s really good. Sorry to hear that you’re now in a reading slump. They suck. Fingers crossed your reading mojo comes back soon!

YAY BOOKS! I have read Discovery of Witches but haven’t read the sequel. should i? have you?
dry skin is the worst. my body is fine but my face hates me. i’ve been loving dr jart, but it’s crazy expensive at sephora. i found it on a few websites that have it cheaper, but the price changes so much that i’d rather find something that works and is easy to get. i tried the ordinary’s moisturising with HA something something for the first time today and so far so fabulous. we shall see if it continues to be fabulous. i use FABs ultra repair cream sometimes too.

I have read the Discovery of Witches trilogy. It’s good but long. Very, very long. I don’t regret reading it, although I honestly don’t remember much of it either, and it wasn’t one that I wanted to re-read immediately. Normally books I adore I immediately reread or at least reread parts of them because I love them so much. But the new show on AMC made me revisit the first book.

Both my body and face are so dry. My face doesn’t itch, thank goodness, but my body does. I’ve heard great things about Ordinary and it’s crazy affordable and need to look into their products. Yeah, sometimes convenience outweighs price. Thanks for the recommendations – I will check them out.

your dry skin saviour: borage oil. I shit you not. start with 2 capsules per day and watch your dry skin issues disappear. if after a week and you still have dry skin, bump to 3.

i take 4/day (i have eczema) and now it’s gone and hasn’t come back. recently, i ran out and was too lazy to get more and by day 2 of not taking it, my dry skin came back as well as my eczema.

Borage is high in GLA (which is amazing for the skin). read up on it; it’s totally simplified my skin routine as well (i dont need as many products anymore).
