Sometimes I get caught up in all the things that annoy me, like Trump, Mondays, cleaning and stupid, intolerant people. They make my eyes twitch and feel the need to get on a soapbox and rant. Some days that is exactly what I do and need to do. But not today. Today, I want to focus on the things I love because that makes me feel good and I want more good in my life.
These are my great loves today. Tomorrow might be different, but probably not. I’m kind of boring and loyal. These are in no particular order, although Max is always numero uno because that’s how I roll.
Max aka The Chief Mischief Maker
What can I say? I’m a #CrazyCatLady and I’m #NotAshamed because #CatsRule and I can’t think of any more hashtags, so enjoy the photo montage of MaxE!
Books! Glorious Books!
I’ve been a library card holder since I was a toddler. I love all kinds of books and love finding a great series, because it feels like I’m visiting old friends whenever a new book comes out.
Pretty Vibrant Flowers
I am a plant serial killer. My victims die due to neglect or too much love. But still I try. Here’s hoping these flowers make it through the season.
The Beach, Baby!
When I moved to California, there were four requirements I had. My apartment needed to be pet friendly, close to the beach, have parking and air conditioning. Fortunately, I found a place that met my needs, even though I donโt make it to the beach as often as I should. Still, dipping my toes in the ocean and listening to the waves always puts a smile on my face.
This is actually not my hometown beach. Oddly enough I don’t have any pictures of it. When people visit me, they want to hit the famous beaches, like Santa Monica or Venice (best people watching, ever!). This is Ocean Beach where I took my brother to Hodad’s for amazing burgers and milkshakes.
Sia and Chandelier
This may be an old song but it’s been on heavy rotation on spotify for me.

My Oldest Nephew Graduates from High School
My oldest nephew graduated from high school last Friday, and I couldn’t be more proud of him! Andy is a smart, caring and funny young man and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for him. Here is the graduate with his younger siblings. Aaron graduates next year and Lexi just graduated from the 8th grade. And yes, they are all taller than me.
A lot taller.
Tell me, what things are you loving lately?
Tanya
I love Chandelier! That song and Take Me to Church are two of my favorites right now. I remember listening and realizing there was much more complexity going on that your average pop song and when I looked up the lyrics I was in love. My love list would probably be similar: my pups, having some color on the walls of our house!, and creative outings with friends (things like paint nights or murder mysteries instead of just going to a bar).
I didn’t realize it either, Jenn, until Erin just mentioned it her comment and then I really listened to the lyrics. I love it when a pop song has actual meaning behind it. My walls are all bland because I live in an apartment, so I am jealous of the color on your walls. I’ve seen some of your paintings you’ve shared and you have such great talent! I always wished that I could paint. ๐
I am loving Volbeat’s new song. Skillet’s is pretty good, too.
I always love books and cats. And I am in desperate need of beach therapy. I am closely monitoring the weather to make it happen.
I’ll have to check out those songs. You got me hooked on Ellie King, so I trust your taste! Nothing beats beach therapy; there is just something special about the beach. ๐
Love your list Tanya! My list would be similar with books and cats and good quotes and good music. And of course, the beach! We went about two weeks ago to Corona Del Mar and it was beautiful ๐ Definitely want to do more beach trips in the future because SoCal has some of the best!!
Yes! Corona Del Mar is such beautiful beach. Really, you can’t go with any California beach. And you know me – my world revolves around Max and finding a great book to read: my happy place!
All of these. I love all of these too. Of course, I have a special place in my heart for handsome ginger boys. And, Chandelier…well, remember that post of mine about having a tough look at my alcohol habits? Yep, so Chandelier pretty much feels like Sia wrote that song for me.
Yes, we definitely have a shared love for ginger boys. Asto is one handsome kitty! Honestly, I loved that song without listening too carefully to the lyrics (my bad) and didn’t really realize what the song was about. And knowing now makes me love the song even more.
i love the library as well but too bad that the popular books are always gone! that said, i’ve been stalking the large print area – for some reason, no one wants those books but hell yes for size 25 font/print where my old eyes don’t have to squint! LOL
You mentioned my biggest pet peeve – all the good books are always checked out and have a huge waiting list. Grrrrr….. You are right larger print books tend to be in stock. I’ve been known to nab one too … and hey, my eyes don’t mind the bigger font too!
absolutely love that song! and of course, always a crazy cat lady. how can you not be with a cat as cute as max?! and books. books are life.
Another crazy cat lady! Woot! Woot! Max is adorable, although he is definitely a Chief Mischief Maker and keeps me on my toes. And yes, books are LIFE!
