My original plan had been to write a more personal post today but when it came time to put fingers to keyboard, my enthusiasm waned. I didn’t have the words or heart for it. Or maybe I wasn’t ready to really dig into my feelings yet. So I put it aside for another day. It will still inside me, whether I like it or not. Thankfully, I knew exactly who to steal … I mean borrow from for today’s post. 😀 Erin did a fun post on movies last week and I can always talk about movies. Always and forever.
Most Hated Movie of All-Time: Batman and Robin. George Clooney is a great actor but a very bad, no good, terrible Batman. I take this very personally because Batman is my favorite superhero. I haven’t bothered with the “new” Batman because nope.
Movie I Think is Overrated: Avatar. The special effects are spectacular but the actual story is not. I mean “unobtainium” — really? That’s the best you can do, Mr. Cameron?
Movie I Think is Underrated: Jurassic Park 3. I blanked at this one. At the moment, I am watching Jurassic World, which reminded me that I didn’t like Jurassic Park 2 but liked Jurassic Park 3, unlike most people. So there you go.
Movie I Love: This is hard because I love so many movies but I am going with The Wizard of Oz. TNT airs it every year and I watch it every year. And yes, I sing the songs.
Movie I Secretly Love: Alvin and The Chipmunks. Theodore reminds me of my cats and I love my cats so shut up.
Favorite Action Movie: John Wick 1 and 2 (1 is slightly better)
Favorite Drama: Silence of the Lambs
Favorite Horror: The Conjuring
Favorite Comedy: The Heat
Favorite Disney Movie: The Lion King
Favorite Sci-Fi Movie: Stars Wars Trilogy (original, of course)
Favorite Animated Movie: Toy Story 3.
Favorite Superhero Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy
Favorite Musical: Chicago
Favorite Western: Tombstone (I’m your huckleberry). This was also Erin’s choice and I swear I’m not “Single White Female” stalking her.
Favorite Martial Arts: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (When I first typed this I initially put Crouching Tigger – now that I would be an excellent movie!)
Favorite Indie: Grosse Pointe Blank (not sure if this really qualifies but I love this movie!)
Favorite Bad Movie: The Waterboy. Please don’t judge.
Childhood Favorite: The Goonies
Favorite Franchise: Toy Story, Stars Wars (minus the prequels but including The Force Awakens and Rogue One) and Harry Potter. My blog so I can name as many as I want!
Best Trilogy: Toy Story (yes, I like Toy Story)
Guilty Pleasure: Resident Evil (or video game movies in general)
Favorite Director: Christopher Nolan
Favorite Actor: Christian Bale
Favorite Actress: Jessica Chastain
Favorite Foreign Film: Hmmmm … not sure. I don’t watch many (any) foreign films. Something I need to change!
Favorite Movie this Year so Far: Well, John Wick 2, although I expect Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2 to replace it.
Worst Movie so Far this Year: Warcraft (I watched it this year but it may have come out in 2016). This is a rare video game movie that I don’t love. 🙁
Movie I Have Seen Recently: Lights Out
What I Thought of It: Since I was deeply scared of the dark as a child, this may not have been the wisest movie to watch. But a good horror movie if you’re into those!
Most Anticipated Film of this Year: Guardians of the Galaxy 2 because Baby Groot!
Favorite Movie of All-Time: This is really hard, like picking your favorite cat out of all the cats you’ve ever loved. But my love for Goonies has lasted more than 30 years and I am a Goonie!
I told you mine, now you tell me some of your favorites!
Tanya
I love Guardians of the Galaxy! I’m so excited for the sequel! I also like Chicago best musical-wise. I saw Erin do this and now you… I might have to steal this idea 😉
Me too, because Baby Groot! I actually really like musicals overall, although I prefer them onstage versus onscreen. But Chicago is one of my favorites. Definitely do this! I love seeing everyone’s picks!
fav movies of all time: aliens, die hard (1-3), breakfast club.
i remember watching John Wick because I was bored and stumbled on it. I had no idea what it was about but I was really surprised by how much I liked it!
Yes to Aliens, Die Hard (1-2, I can’t remember 3) and super yes to Breakfast Club! I was surprised by how much I loved John Wick too! I watched it after seeing a ton of rave reviews for it and was surprised by how much I loved it.
I may have to tag this & play along. I love me some movies.
I so agree – I love Jurassic Park 3… I think 2 was awful but I will always watch the 3rd one.
GOONIES FOREVER! It never gets old.
Play along, Rebecca Jo. Play along! Yay! Another fan of Jurassic Park 3! Both Part 2 and 3 were on TV this weekend. I avoided 2 because nope but had to watch Part 3. I love Sam Neil. GOONIES! Whenever I stumble upon it on TV, I just have to watch at least a few minutes of it.
I don’t think I’m familiar with John Wick. I need to see what that’s all about.
Ben Affleck as Batman has not won me over. So disappointed with that selection. I didn’t like his casting or the direction.
BABY GROOT! (that’s all that needs to be said about that, amirite?)
The Conjuring is a good one for your horror pick.
And, really, I’ve watched and enjoyed some other westerns, but I just can’t see any of them ever being better (in my humble opinion) than Tombstone.
I think you’d really like John Wick. The premise is kind of goofy — he’s retired hitman who gets revenge on the son of a Russian mobster who stole his car and killed his dog (the main reason) but it works. I have not been at all impressed with the DC movies and those superheroes are my favorite, so I take it a bit personally. Not a Ben Affleck fan in the first place, so add in the poor story and direction and the fact that Christian Bale is my favorite actor … nope. Baby Groot is definitely all one needs to say! I really love The Conjuring series. It’s scary but not torture porn scary or silly scary (like the Freddy Krueger movies have become) and not filled with bad actors making poor choices.
Ok, this whole movie post thing, I may have to borrow. I love it! 🙂
Goonies is the best! I have seen that movie so many times, it’s not even funny! I do enjoy the Star Wars trilogy (the original 3 from when we were kids. RIP Carrie Fisher). In regards to Batman, I agree with your summation regarding George Clooney; great actor, horrible movie. I don’t even remember the one with Val Kilmer as Batman. But he was absolutely phenomenal in Tombstone!
Yes! Borrow it, Mackenzie! I love seeing what movies people love and finding some movies that I need to watch asap! Goonies is a beloved classic and it makes me smile every time I watch it. Fun fact: I actually have the originally Star Wars on VHS. 😀 Batman Forever (the one with Val Kilmer) was better than the one with George Clooney but still not great. But Val “I’m your huckleberry” was fantastic in Tombstone.
Wow, it’s really bad that I haven’t seen many of these movies on your list! LOL! We tried watching the Goonies with the kids last year but my son wasn’t quite ready for it. My current favorite movie is Pitch Perfect……don’t judge! LOL!
I LOVE Pitch Perfect. It’s one of my favorite movies and a good one when I need a pick-me-up. I love the songs so much! Goonies is a classic and hopefully when your son is ready for it that he will love it as much as we do!
