I’m back and feeling better after my lovely (not) bout with the stomach flu. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and advice. Stomach flu is no joke and it made me very happy to bid it adieu. Of course, now I’m playing catch-up and all I really want to do is sleep and read. And snuggle with the Max Man. He seems to want to do the same as he now takes his daily naps (morning, noon and night) in bed versus in his cat tower or by the patio doors. He’s trying to tempt me to join him. I won’t lie: sometimes temptation wins. 😀
February Recap: The Big Short Month
February has bid us adieu and it packed quite a punch for a short month! It still feels like there is a surreal-ness to this year. Am I the only one who feels this way? Some days I have to pinch myself (sometimes repeatedly) and ask myself “is this real?” and the answer appears to be “yes”. And sometimes I need multiple hugs from Max to carry on afterwards.
January Recap: The Reign Begins
We’re one month into 2017 and day 13 into Emperor Baby Fists reign of terror and I’m ready to fast forward to whenever he gets impeached. But I am also a big believer in two things: 1) Not being silent and 2) Happiness is the best revenge. I will not be silent, nor will I wallow in misery and give away my joy for the next four years. I will be loud, happy and #resist.
November Recap: The That Happened Month
Adios November. You were an incredibly surreal month and I’m not sad to see you in my rearview mirror. And that makes me a bit mad because I love November. It signals the start of the holiday season, and I adore Thanksgiving with all its food, food and more food. But yeah … that happened and my joy dimmed and fear and anger crept in.
August Recap
Whoa. Where did the summer go? It is already September, and I swear it was June, like two days ago. 🙂 There was a time when I was pretty excited to flip the calendar to September since it meant cooler days were ahead. Now, I’m more ambivalent about it. And to be fair, September is generally hot in LA, although this year has been weird. July was quite hot but August was pretty nice. I’d like September to stay nice, if possible. I don’t do good in hot or cold weather. I’m sort of like the Goldilocks of weather. I want it just right.
June Recap
June has been a bit of rough month news-wise. From Brock Turner to Orlando to Donald Trump to Brexit, there seems to be no shortage of bad news or signs of a pending apocalypse. It’s enough to turn anyone’s smile upside down. I’ve spent a lot of time surfing the various news site to stay abreast of the latest happenings, which may have been a mistake. Not that I want to be uninformed, but sometimes you have to turn off the news and take a break.
