I rarely share my goals on the blog because too often it ends up with me never mentioning them again … meaning I forgot to do them or worse โ I thought about setting some goals but didn’t. Gulp. But I decided to mix things up this month because I need to make some changes in my life. Thus, we have public goals, but not crazy goals or a laundry list of goals. Just two goals. Doable, I think. Maybe?
Exercise 5 Times
This is 100% a copied goal. I am not ashamed by this. My friend, Kristen, set a goal to exercise five times last month, which she did (go girl!) and again this month. I have been off the exercise wagon for almost a year (gulp) and need to get back on. But every time I told myself to put on my swimsuit or lace-up my sneakers in the past, I’d fall into old habits of being too ambitious instead of setting reasonable goals to ease back into a sustainable routine. But not this time. Nope. I am going to do this! Five workouts is very, very doable. It’s not scary or overwhelming. It’s just FIVE workouts. I totally got this.
And yes, I fully expect to wait until the last five days of the month to start working out. But that’s cool.
Blog Two Times a Week
I normally try to post every Monday and Thursday but my blogging has been all over the place this year and not because I have nothing to say. I actually have lots to say but I’ve gotten lazy, plain and simple. And lazy is different than burnout or needing a short break. Plus, I need to embrace routines again and blogging is a good place to start because it’s fun.
Go Tanya: You Got This!
Yes, I have formed a one-woman cheerleader squad for myself. Because I know me. And I will try to whine my way out of doing them. But I won’t because I publicly shared them with y’all.
Do you set goals? How do you stay on top of them? Share your goals so I can cheer for you too! We can do this!
Tanya
Girl, you’ve got this! Just workout once a week and you are THERE! And the blogging can be anything!! Book reviews, life updates, a fun survey. You’ve got this!
Thanks Audrey! Appreciate your support!
being too ambitious is 100000% the reason my goal is 5 times per month right now. because i would be too ambitious, fail and then give up. but 5 is doable right until the last week of the month, you know? so i always feel like i can still do it, whereas if my goal was 5 times a week, i’d fail in the first week and give up for the rest of the month. i know you get me lol. another thing i try and remember – they don’t have to be hardcore workouts. a walk will suffice, or whatever you like to do. at this point, creating the habit is more important. blogging two times a week is my goal-ish right now, but only in my head so if i don’t do it, i don’t feel bad.
you got this girl!
5 times just feels like the perfect amount to get me started. It’s something, nothing extreme but also not too wimpy. ๐ I’d do the same thing, set an ambitious goal, fail immediately and quit. Don’t want to do that again. I’m not even focused on doing hardcore, calorie burning workouts – just getting out and moving my body versus just thinking about it. I’m a little nervous about the two times a week blogging because I can get so lazy! LOL!
Goals are goals – big or small… make ’em & achieve them ๐
That’s right! I can do this!
my friend told me about a guy he trained who was trying to get back on the wagon but had a tough time starting/sticking to the routine so he just told the guy just come and meet me here every day this week and we’ll do one exercise. that was it…just one. the hard part isn’t the exercise, it’s forming the habit and just getting dressed and putting on your shoes was hard for him.
the following week was the same thing but 2 exercises and from there, it just continued.
so baby steps is key! start out with 5 days/month, then 6, then 7 and pretty soon it’ll become part of your routine.
Exactly – I need to get back into the habit because I’ve fallen out of it. But I’m hoping since it hasn’t been that long since I’ve exercised that it will be like riding a bike. Once I start up again, I will get back into the groove fairly easily and be able to maintain the habit.
Great goals! I should join you on these…..I’ve been trying to go to the gym once a week. So, that’s usually only four times a month. But it’s small steps. I am with you on getting off track with the blogging, as you know. Good luck with these goals! I’ll be cheering for you in the blogging background!
Small steps still make a big difference and I took a walk yesterday, which felt great. Blogging is hard. It’s fun but it’s a lot of work and some days I just don’t have the time or the words so it can get put on the back burner. But then I stay away too long and miss it. ๐
I hope to get back into blogging on a regular basis as well. I have spent the last three weeks or so packing, as we move this week, and I am hoping that with the month of June, things can finally normalize.
Okay, so that’s where you’ve been. I’ve been wondering and was going to reach out. I forgot that you had a move coming up. Hopefully everything goes smoothly as I know how much moving sucks. It’s such a pain to pack everything up. Look forward to seeing you back on your blog!
