Marching, Marching: We Keep Marching Forward

Marching, Marching: We Keep Marching Forward

January 19, 2017 by Tanya // 8 Comments

Tomorrow someone that I abhor and stands for everything I despise — racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, greed and bullying — is going to become our President. In my lowest moments, I feel sick, frightened and hopeless. My anxiety levels are off the charts given my gloomy view of the future. And yet … I keep marching forward because I am not a quitter. Silence or bowing down are not options for me, so I will fight instead.

While low moments hit hard and render me weak, they never last because I am also strong, capable, committed and pissed off. Injustice fuels my fire, while kind, human acts remind me that there are many, many people of every political stripe who won’t cower or hunker down in their safe lives. They stand tall and recognize the danger of waiting four years to see what damage has been inflicted on our great country by the Orange Troll and his ilk. They are my tribe and we continue to grow.

Let Us March Together

Marching, marching, marching … we march towards love, tolerance, freedom and hope. Today seems dark but light always returns to those who fight and believe.

Speak Up and Be Heard

I won’t lie: some days I do want to put my head in the sand. But then I remember …

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies but the silence of our friends. Martin Luther King, Jr

#Truth. Silence can be far more deafening than hateful vitriol shouted by an angry man. Speak up and listen. Be passionate but not a bully. Heartfelt but not a pushover. But don’t stay silent because silence makes you an accesory to hate.

The world will not be destroyed by people who do evil but by those who watch and do nothing.

There will always be “world-destroyers”. They rise and they fall because people stood up and banded together. Don’t watch on sidelines, expecting others to take action. Do something.

To ignore evil is to become accomplice to it. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I won’t be accomplice to evil, to let hate rise again. Don’t you do it either.

Get On Your Feet and Shout and Sing

I love music. Nothing gets me on my feet and cheering like a great song or two or a thousand.

A Moby Approved Playlist

Moby is a vocal anti-Trumper who was asked to DJ one of his inaugural balls. Why? Beats me. I think they were trying everyone, hoping that money talks. Anyway, he created a special inauguration playlist.

I’ll be blaring this tomorrow. And every time I need a blast of motivation.

Freedom! Freedom! Where are You?

Beyonce creates feelings of intense love and loathing in many people, but regardless of whichever side you fall on, listen to this song. I love that Beyonce has gotten political and included my boy, Kendrick Lamar, in this song. The video below is from her performance last year at the BET Awards.

“Hey! Ima keep running, cause a winner don’t quit on themselves”

No, they don’t.

Let’s Rise Together

#Truth

There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise.

I am a #NastyWoman, proud member of the #PantsuitNation and ready to ROAR. I hope you will stand tall against hate and discrimination and rise with me.

Thanks, Audrey! I am fired up! It’s not going to politics all the time, here, but when I have something to say I’m not going to be quiet either. Hopefully, people will respond as positively as you have, which I love and appreciate! Yeah, the KKK photo just … I have no words. I can’t even fathom hate that big.

We’re going to make it through. We really will. People dont stay silent anymore … this next President is going to have a task ahead of him trying to do anything that sets our country back decades. I really believe that.
& just think – its just 2 years when we start looking at our next presidental candidates ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha

You are absolutely right, Rebecca Jo. People know the cost of staying silent and there are many, many good people here. I’m not sure if Trump realizes the task he has ahead of him. ๐Ÿ˜€ And ugh. Obviously I can’t want to elect a new president, but I am also just tired of it all too!

Any day, any day now, Mackenzie! Sometimes when I stumble across his face on a magazine at a store, I let out a little scream. I just can’t help myself!
