Farewell, March. See ya next year. Honestly, where did March go, people? It’s cliche but it’s true: time flies. One moment we’re easing into March and two seconds later April rent is due. 🙂 Still, all in all, March was a good, busy month for me, so I shouldn’t complain. You’ll note that I said shouldn’t, not that I wouldn’t. You always gotta read the fine print, my friends. HA!
What’s New with Tanya this Month
March was good overall, although I experienced two phenomena that always confuse me. First, daylight savings. While I appreciate more hours of sunlight, my body didn’t want to adjust to the time change this year. And neither did Max. He didn’t like the later meal-time or bed-time, nor his tired and cranky Mama. Second, Easter. I’m not confused by why we celebrate Easter, but how it moves around. Seems suspicious to me. 😉
A Must Read
While my monthly recaps are meant to be light reads, this article is too important not to discuss, even though it is not remotely fun or light. It is, however, something that I am very committed to shining a light on. For those who either suffer (or have suffered) from depression or have a loved one dealing with depression currently, please read this. It’s a very honest, heartfelt obituary. It’s my hope by becoming more comfortable discussing depression and busting myths around it that we can reduce the number of obituaries like this one.
Funny Cat Memes
I am a crazy cat lady so it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t share the cat memes that made me laugh and Max jealous. He doesn’t understand why I pay attention to other kitties.
Every cat owner can relate to this and I really need a decoy keyboard myself.
My cats have always been obsessed with the toilet. And Max, in particular, loves the shower. He will actually sit between the shower liner and curtain while I shower. And no, he is not a pervert cat. He doesn’t pay any attention to me but watches the water.
What I’m Watching and Not Watching
Saul Goodman was never my favorite Breaking Bad character but I am enjoying his show, Better Call Saul. Of course, I’m a huge Mike Franks fan, which also helps. For those not watching, I highly recommend it. There have been a couple callbacks to Breaking Bad, and one literally had me clapping my hands and jumping up and down, even though they didn’t speak a word (that I can recall). They didn’t need to either.
I’m not watching Super Face Punch, aka Superman vs Batman. I am a HUGE Batman fan and generally don’t mind superhero movies, although I’m reaching my limit. But I can’t stand Ben Affleck or Zach Snyder or this super dark and dull universe they created. And I enjoyed the Dark Knight trilogy. It was grim, but there was still hope and goodness.
What I’m Eating
Still working on eating healthy and doing okay there. Some days I am very, very good and other days I slip-up. But either way, I’m not giving up on my goal to get healthy or to eat delicious food, whether it falls into the every day or special occasion category. These are two recipes that scream Spring to me and are so darn yummy.
What I’m Working On
I just finished the redesign of The Random Path for my good friend, Mackenzie. She wanted to move to a self-hosted blog and have a design that complemented her new direction. I love the new look and encourage you to check out the new design too. If you are unfamiliar with Mackenzie and The Random Path, she is is one of my all-time favorite writers and has some of the most beautiful posts on the internet. If your website or blog needs a redesign or you’re building one from scratch, I’d love to help craft your dream website/blog. Learn more about my services at sasspurrella designs and I’m accepting new projects to begin late April.

April Showers Bring …. What?
Well, I hope we have some April showers because we could always use the rain in California, although we have flowers year-round. 🙂 I’ve got another busy month ahead of me, which I love. Plus, some (hopefully) yummy recipes to try and post on Eat Laugh Purr. My reading list for next month is mostly planned but I always add a book or three after the Show Us Your Book link-up. It’s truly my favorite link-up. I read every single post and may have even read some of the old link-ups. My reading list is long, so long. But I can’t stop. Won’t stop. And now I’m quoting Miley so it’s time to bid you adieu.
How did March treat you? What was your favorite post from the past month? Any big plans for April?
Tanya
That Washington Post article…I mean, just wow… More people need to read and see that post. The stigma on depression is still there and needs to seriously be lifted. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you again for all the lovely work you did for my blog!!! My dad keeps telling me how fantastic it is 🙂 You are the best, XO!
The cat meme of the second keyboard is hilarious! I think I need one of those for my cat 🙂
It blew me away too, Mackenzie. I hope many people read it and it helps people start the conversation around depression and mental illness. Awww … I’m so glad you (and your Dad) love your blog!! I definitely need a decoy keyboard and mouse for Max. Little stinker!
Now that pie is going to haunt ME. I love pie, and I love lemon things. Maybe I’ll use a pre-made crust…
Thanks for sharing my link!
You’re welcome, Steph! That pie – it is so good. I used a pre-made pie crust because I can’t make a from scratch crust – it’s my Achilles heel. And it still tastes phenomenal.
Wow that asparagus tart looks amazing! Speaking of amazing, I love what you did with Mackenzie’s blog. Bravo! Looks awesome! Thank you so much for the blog/video shoutout!
Thanks, Tonya! I appreciate your kind words! The asparagus tart is amazing. Seriously, I was making yum-yum noises while I devoured it. 🙂
omg that pie looks so good. sour cream pie though? interesting. i don’t like lemon except in something like lemon meringue pie omg i’m so hungry just thinking about it haha but i’m trying to be good. speaking of, good job on eating healthy! that’s awesome. eating good most of the time is where i want to get to. thanks so much for the shout out girl 🙂 and omg love the cat memes, i need a decoy keyboard!
The sour cream just mellows the tartness of the lemon and doesn’t add a sour cream taste to the custard. It’s still got bite though! I’m getting better at making healthier choices but I still got my days where I don’t. 🙂 I think every cat owner just needs to get themselves a decoy keyboard. Of course, cats are so smart we could probably only fool them once!
Awww, that’s me! <3 Love your links – I am reading everything I can possibly find on positive thinking right about now, so this is helpful and Amaze Yourself was so inspiring! I'll be following The Random Path to see what else is in store. I don't have cats (we're "dog people") but they are freaking hilarious!
Mackenzie is a fabulous writer; one of the best in my opinion. I am with great pride a crazy cat lady, although I like dogs too. Animals are just a real blessing.
