We’re one month into 2017 and day 13 into Emperor Baby Fists reign of terror and I’m ready to fast forward to whenever he gets impeached. But I am also a big believer in two things: 1) Not being silent and 2) Happiness is the best revenge. I will not be silent, nor will I wallow in misery and give away my joy for the next four years. I will be loud, happy and #resist.
A Surreal, Busy, Rainy Month for Me
It certainly felt surreal when we inaugurated a toddler who whined about his attendance numbers and complained to the CIA about it. I’m pretty sure that is a first. And certainly not the worst act he’s done thus far. Unfortunately. But enough about him. January was an exceptionally rainy month for California, which we desperately needed but it felt weird. It rained more this month that it probably has the entire 10 years I’ve lived here. The rain was phenomenal and appreciated but the lack of sun felt odd.
I am not a huge picture taker and hate taking selfies so no pictures of the rain. Or my book club or the yummy lamb braise I devoured. We met at Green Tomato Grill in Tustin and it is delicious! And really healthy, if you are entire that kind of thing. ๐ I’ll try to do better this month but no promises!
Pet Funnies to Keep You Sane in an Insane World
Cats. Dogs. They represent my happy place where only good things happen.

This is Max and me every night. ๐
I’m not 100% sure who is backing up who but I wouldn’t mess with them.
Hehehehehe.
This makes me laugh so damn hard.
So freaking awesome.
Yummy Food I Made and Ate
I’m trying to eat healthier and I am making better choices, although I’m far from perfect. Good recipes like these definitely help me!

Never Be Quiet
A beautiful song that speaks to my heart.
But no one knows me, no one ever will
if I don’t say something, if I just lie still
Would I be that monster, scare them all away
If I let the-em hear what I have to sayMILCK
I won’t keep quiet and hope you won’t either. Speak. Share. Listen.
What were your January highlights?

Thanks for the shoutout, Tanya ๐
Those animal pictures are fantastic. I love them!
#RESIST
You’re welcome! Animal memes keep my soul sane!
‘Happiness is the best revenge’ – spot on. you always say the best things.
and i’m still laughing about emperor baby fists.
book club! very exciting ๐
omg the racist bucket one hahaha
oh yum, i love shrimp so i have to check that recipe out.
I’d love to take credit for Emperor Baby Fists but one of the gossip websites I read refer to him that way and I love it! I laughed so hard at the racist bucket too. Hehehehe. The shrimp bake is delicious and so easy to make, which makes it a winner, winner shrimp dinner in my book!
Thank you for including me in your roundup! I saw that song on FB and it was so beautiful and inspirational!
You’re welcome, Tonya! I love that song so much too. The songwriter/singer MILCK is from LA too.
Dying laughing at the butt heart.
#resist
I know, right? At least the doggie seemed amused by it all. #resist!!
That political cartoon is so on point, it is scary ๐
How did you like that restaurant in Tustin? That area is not too far from me ๐
Thanks for including my post Tanya!!! Happy Thursday!
I know it made laugh because true but also feel very, very scared because true. Green Tomato Grill is really good. It’s also quite healthy overall too, which is an added bonus. Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered (I loved my lamb braise which was the special) and I’d definitely go back there in a heartbeat. It’s really easy to get to as well.
Those NY Daily News cartoons making me laugh every morning, but they also make me scared because they are close to true.
I know. You laugh and then you want to weep!
I am in such a difficult mindset at the moment. I understand the importance of not being silent and resisting and standing up for what is right. And, I do not want to hide or put my head in the sand. But, so many things are causing so many negative feelings in me. I do not like feeling the anger, the sadness, the disgust, the heartbreak, the confusion. So, I’m trying to balance self-care with speaking up. It’s a difficult balance at the moment, so I’m thankful for the many, like you, who are takin’ care of biznass while I’m taking care of me.
I hear you, Erin. Honestly, I feel the same way. I can’t be silent and the same time it is so hard to find that balance. The news just overwhelms me and I want to put my head in the sand, which in itself makes me feel ashamed. It’s good you’re taking care of yourself because we need to stay strong in heart and body. To take care of ourselves so we can speak up and be heard when needed.
thanks for the shoutout!
the racist bucket made me laugh so hard!
i’m the same with picture taking; i always forget or i’d just rather live/be in the moment instead of whipping out the phone. I tried hard to take more pics this trip but then went back to my old ways and asked the others to send me their pics LOL
You’re welcome, Kathy! I loved the racist bucket so hard too! Cats, how I love them!
I’m terrible about taking pictures. But I’m trying … sort of! I’m also old and it is hard to some days teach us new tricks! I hope you had a great trip and can’t wait to hear all about it.
