Whoa. I can’t believe Christmas is next week and 2019 is just days away. To be fair, I’m pretty excited for 2019 because 2018 wasn’t all that awesome. It was a weird year, right? Both fast and painfully slow. A slow-moving train wreck that you cannot escape, even though you keep wailing that you want off right now! Or was that just me screaming?
And while I could complain endless (and maybe want to), I’m going to spare you (you’re welcome) because the end is nigh and 2019 is in sight. Before I sign off to spend time with my family, I decided to answer some holiday questions from The Blended Blog that I borrowed from Michelle at Frankly, My Dear. Yes, the blog world is incestuous, my friends. We all Lannisters. And Merry Christmas.
Candy Canes: Yes/No?
YES! I am a big fan of candy canes and peppermint flavor in general.
Christmas Morning Early Riser or Sleep In?
Early riser, especially when I was young and eagerly anticipating those enticings presents from Santa Claus. Some would even say that I was deeply annoying. 😀
Did You Shop on Black Friday: Yes/No?
Nope. I have never shopped on Black Friday but don’t shame those that do, just not my jam.
Christmas Tree Up in November: Yes/No?
Yes and no. When I decorated, my tree and decorations went up Thanksgiving weekend. But I don’t decorate any longer (I don’t host any Christmas celebrations in LA and too lazy to just decorate for myself) so no tree.
Do You Get Holiday Ideas from Pinterest: Yes/No?
Yes, although mostly recipes versus holiday decorating or gift ideas.
Christmas Glam or Ugly Sweater?
More Christmas glam but we’re pretty casual (jeans and sweatshirts) for family gatherings and I’m more dressy for friend events.
Stocking Stuffers: Wrapped or Unwrapped?
Both. I like wrapping gifts so I lean that way but not always.
Traditional or Modern Christmas Songs?
Both. I used to play the more traditional Christmas carols on the piano growing up so I still have great affection for them, but what I listen to for fun is more modern. This is also new. I used to dislike Christmas songs, beyond what I sang in Church, but now enjoy them. I find this slightly embarrassing.
Fruitcake: Yes/No?
Nope. To be fair, I’ve never tried it. Have zero desire to do so.
Is Your Christmas Shopping Finished: Yes/No?
Ummm … I haven’t started but I basically give everyone gift certificates or cash.
Is There Snow in December Where You Live?
No. I lived in Minnesota for 30 years before moving to LA and the lack of snow in December still weirds me out. But I go home every Christmas where it’s cold and often times snowy and I’m happy to return to snow-less and warm California.
Classic Show: A Charlie Brown Christmas or Rudolph?
Rudolph all the way.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year
As usual, I’ll be taking the remainder of the year off to celebrate the holidays, although I will be briefly back on December 26th for the Best of 2018 Show Us Your Books Round-Up. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Happy Kwanzaa, Joyeux Noël and Happy December 25th. May the final days of 2018 be filled with much love, laughter and joy.

That you havent even started shopping for Christmas… just another reason why I think you’re awesome 🙂 haha… I still have no much to do – & no cares at all to do it. Bah-humbug this year.
Those sweaters. OH MY GOSH… haha!!!!
I too would want to return to a warm California after being in cold & snow. UGH to Winter!
I don’t like peppermint unless it’s by itself. Candy canes are great but I don’t like peppermint and chocolate or peppermint flavored things. Weird, I know.
I love getting up early- always have. We also definitely do glam and ugly outfits. I like my stocking mixed with wrapped gifts. And I looooove snow on Xmas day when it happens. It’s a toss up in Ohio in December.
Have a wonderful trip home!
