Sorry I haven’t been around. Yes, I know blogging twice a week was a June Goal. Obviously you know how well that went for me since I haven’t posted since mid-June. It wasn’t intentional but … well, there you go. And errr … let’s not talk about my Goal #2: exercising twice a week. Yeah …. let’s definitely not ever talk about it because errrr … June was obviously not a great month for me.
And now it’s July, my birthday month. I like my birthday month, normally. We’ll see how it goes this year. I’d like it to go well, to be awesome (heck, I’d accept okay) and all that jazz.
Jazz It Up, Birthday Girl
I’ve decided that shall be my theme for birthday: to jazz things up because well, I need to shake things up. Things are stale. Life feels stagnant. And I’m a wee bit grumpy, if we’re being honest. And that’s why I’m taking this week off. To refuel, recharge, recalibrate and relax. Also I ran out of words that start with an “r”. I also normally take the week of July 4th off, so I don’t even feel guilty about it.
To be clear, I wouldn’t feel guilty about taking some “me” time anyway.
I’ll still be checking out what’s going on in your world, at least the first part of the week. No huge plans for the 4th, besides making my famous beer brats. And by famous, I mean only in my mind. But people seem to like them. Or maybe they’re just scared to respond negatively.
I have no idea why anyone would think little ‘ol me would respond unfavorably if they didn’t like something I made … for them … personally … with my own two hands. That would be wrong, right? 😀
Don’t Forget this 4th of July …
For many of us the 4th involves parades and picnics and hopefully – a paid holiday – but please don’t forget the reason why it is a federal holiday.
I’m not going to go all Marianne Williamson on you, but let’s embrace love (of both ourselves and those around us) a bit more and release the grip fear and hate have on us. America will be better and yes, greater, if we do so and truly believe and act as though this land was made for you (wherever you come from, no matter the color of your skin, your sexual orientation or whom you do or do not pray to) and me, a proud, first-generation immigrant.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun 4th of July! Got any big plans for the 4th?
