It’s time for another coffee talk with Tanya. Where I talk about what’s on my mind, also known as random thoughts. Ramblings. Or a whole lot of nothing. Or everything. It depends on your perspective. 😀 Now go ahead and pour yourself a big mug of coffee (or tea or whatever your drink preference is) and get cozy. This is what’s on my mind …
Max Might Be a Hobbit
I believe Max is more hobbit than feline. Need proof? Fine. I present Exhibit A
Both have hairy or furry feet.
Not enough you say? All cats have hairy feet, you argue. Fair enough. Here’s Exhibit B.
Both have more meal times than regular creatures do. Max is normally not overly aggressive about his meals. He doesn’t bellow like Emeril did. He just patiently waits at his dish, expecting me to do the right thing. Which is to feed him. But now he’s starting to whine more about the lack of food in his dish. All. The. Time. He wants breakfast. Second Breakfast. Elevensies. Luncheon. Afternoon Tea. Dinner. Supper. Bedtime Treat (which even Hobbits didn’t eat).
I should be grateful that he doesn’t wake me up at 3:00 AM for pre-breakfast meal.
What I’m Watching
It feels like there is either nothing or everything on — right? No happy medium. Right now I’m watching Better Call Saul (Gus Fring is back!), Archer (yes, I watch cartoons and I am not ashamed) and iZombie. I’m also anxiously awaiting the return of Fargo this week. After all, I am Minnesotan, dontcha know.
I still watch Supernatural because I cannot quit the show, although it’s been a so-so season. I’ve heard great things about Big Little Lies but haven’t read the book yet and feel like I should read the book first. Agree or disagree?
P.S. Just finished What Alice Forget and now rethinking whether I even need to read Big Little Lies. Just not sure if Moriarty is my jam.
Reading Small Great Things
This was my pick for book club this month. I won’t lie: I’m terrified. It’s received rave reviews, which it has undoubtedly earned. But the subject matter — racism is a hard topic for me. I wanted to read this story but left to my own devices (and fears), it would remain forever on my TBR. So I chose it for book club to force myself to read it and to also hopefully give myself the support (or shoulder to wail on) I will likely need afterwards. Because people, I expect to be emotionally wreaked afterwards.
I keep putting off starting it, but book club is this weekend so I have to read it this week. I expect to procrastinate until the last possible moment because I feel very vulnerable.
A Rant or Two
I don’t want to give Emperor Baby Fists too much space here. However, I occasionally need to vent about him. So two things:
1. Dropping Tomahawks and MOABs Do Not Make You Presidential
Media — stop saying that. You’re speaking to man who craves adulation and praise and will continue to drop bombs without thought about consequences or the big picture to receive positive press. Yes, there are times when bombs are necessary. However, they should always be part of a well-thought out strategy and not some whim of a toddler in need of a belly rub.
2. Sean Spicer is a Moron
We have all stuck our foot in our mouth and said something stupid or regrettable. Had he immediately said, “Whoa. That was stupid. Let’s back up a second.” I would have rolled my eyes but likely given him a pass. He did not do that. He dug in harder. And his explanation doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. Assad has ONLY EVER HARMED HIS OWN PEOPLE because Syria is the midst of a CIVIL war. Whether he used chemical weapons, bombs or guns on his citizens makes no difference. And the idea that killing their own people is what makes Assad and Hitler despicable is … I don’t actually have words for it. It’s awful — no argument there — but it also implies that killing others … say Polish Jews or Italian Jews is somehow less terrible and no words again.
Okay, enough venting. I am almost ready to hulk out and imagine many of you are too, so let’s turn it over to the great Melissa McCarthy for a few laughs.
Some Much Need Lightness
Deep breaths, people. Deep breaths. It’s all good.
I imagine Max asks himself this question every day. And fun always wins.
Mine too. Mine too.
One Last Thought
It’s Monday so let’s leave on a high, positive note.
Okay, okay. I got confused. I do think some people — not me, of course — need a FU shot. But I digress. Here’s that positivity I promised you …
Now it’s your turn. Tell me what’s on your mind!
Tanya
It’s supposed to be a long weekend over here (Easter long weekend) but I keep getting dragged into work! at least Im at home which is an upside to this. LOL at the FU shots. hahahha that made me laugh.
Hope you had a good weekend.
Ugh. I hate that when long weekends get interrupted because they are sacred to me! Yeah, the FU shuts killed me too! Hopefully work is a little more chill for you this week!
haha – I hadnt seen the SNL skit. I adore Melissa McCarthy!!!
I can totally see cats being part Hobbit 😉
I need to try Better Call Saul again – I loved season 1 – totally dropped out season 2.
I love Melissa McCarthy. She is hilarious and does a fantastic Sean Spicer. Yup, I seriously believe Max is part Hobbit. This morning he was begging for another meal just a scant hour after his breakfast. Little stinker. Better Call Saul has been really good this season (2 episodes in) and Gus Fring!!!!
Totally agree on your rants.
We’re definitely on the same wavelength when it comes to Emperor Baby Fists and his ilk.
That SNL skit was awesome. They always walk away the true political MVP at the end of the week. Tr*mp is a such a clustercuss I can’t even handle it. And Spicer should’ve been fired for that flub. His ONLY job is to talk to the media and he completely botched that (and continues to do so).
Max is so much cuter than a hobbit!
I’ve decided that I’m probably going to start into BLL without reading the book. I heard that that might be a better approach anyway *shrug* .
That’s what I don’t understand about Spicer. His job is to talk to the media and he makes so many STUPID mistakes. Max is definitely cuter than a hobbit, even with all his hobbit-like tendencies. 😀 I’m really torn on BLL because I’ve concluded that Liane Moriarty is not my jam. I may still watch BLL because I like to support TV shows that feature women. But the book, I’m probably going to pass on.
Melissa McCarthy is evvvvvverything… I laughed so hard when I watched that 🙂 This whole fiasco of a presidency and all the supporting cast members and the crazy things they do, makes my head hurt. I can’t even…
The shots for Walgreens? Ha, ha, ha. 🙂
Agree. I would just love to hang out with her. Yeah, Emperor Baby Fists and his ilk make my head explode. I just don’t get it. Really, I don’t. They all need to get their FU shots at Walgreens! LOL!
ARCHER!! YAS. one of my favourite shows.
um, sobbing quietly over here. you didn’t like what alice forgot? you should probably give big little lies a go, they are completely different. trust. that being said, i loved what alice forgot. but trust me. totally different.
OMG! I did not know you were an Archer fan! I LOVE Archer. And am always astonished by everything they manage to say and on TV. Sorry, but What Alice Forgot was a bomb for me. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person in the world who didn’t love it. But nope. I’ll probably still give the show BLL a try but I’m not sure about the book.
