Coffee Talk: What's New with Me, Volume 5

Coffee Talk, What’s New with Me, Volume 6

April 26, 2018 by Tanya // 12 Comments

I actually don’t know what volume this really is. It could be six. I think it’s six. But it also might be seven or nine or even four. But probably not ten. ๐Ÿ˜€ And yes, I’m off my cough medicine. This is just my natural weirdness. Yay me! Because weird is good. Seriously, it’s better than being depressed or anxiety-ridden. Or … crap.

What I’m Eating

No carbs. A few weeks ago I talked about my weight gain and how I fell off my get health wagon. I laid out my plan to get back on track and move forward again, which fell to the wayside with everything going on. But now I’m refocused and somewhat motivated (just being honest, folks). So this a low carb week. I am irritable, confused and overall bitchy.

What I’m Watching

Killing Eve on BBCA. So good! I love Sandra Oh and she’s killing it on this show. Errr … surprise, surprise it involves a female assassin (not Oh) so there’s a lot of murder and mayhem happening. But seriously, if you know what books I read, this cannot surprise you!

I’m also going to see Avengers this weekend. Honestly, I’m somewhat meh about it, but my friend really wants to see it and she went to all the Harry Potter movies with me so … the things we do for friends, right?

What I’m Listening to

I’m on a huge Janelle Monae fan and I love The Way You Make Me Feel. I cannot help but get up and shake my booty when this song comes on.

You may also recognize Janelle from Hidden Figures. She played Mary Jackson.

What I’m Ranting about

Where does one even start these days?

I need a new swimsuit. Need I really say any more?

via GIPHY

I’m tired of mass shooting and sending “thoughts and prayers”. I’m tired of 45 normalizing awful behavior. I’m tired about feeling stressed about the state of the world. How hate is becoming okay, even proudly and visibly celebrated in some parts of this country. How incompetent people are in charge. How elected officials are sticking in their heads in the sand while democracy dies.

I’m all of the above but I also still have hope and faith. America has done stupid things in the past (hello, slavery) and we have always found our way back. We will do it again. And maybe instead of letting racism and misogyny simmer underground, we’ll actually confront it and make real, lasting change. And if that happens, then this will be worth the sleepless nights.

What I’m Loving

Max. Sunshine. Flip-flops. Max. Carbs, even if I can only lovingly and obsessively think about them this week. The beach. Good books. Friends. Family. Max. Pinterest (you are my happy place with all your cute animal pics). Music. TV. Blooming flowers. The scent of Jasmine. Max. Freshly laundered bed sheets. A clean apartment (preferably one that I didn’t have to clean but we don’t always get what we want). No more cold. Exercising (not really but I’m trying to love it). Max. Laptops. Twitter (it’s kind of a love/hate situation). Blue skies. Warmer temperatures. Green grass. Dreams. Good coffee. Strawberry cake (I didn’t actually eat any but I still love it). And Max.

I told you what’s new with me, now tell me what’s going on with you!

I’ve had to go on a low information diet. Not that I want to bury my head in the sand, but I’ve been having enough trouble sleeping as is. I’m excited to start watching the next season of the handmaid’s tale! What I’m eating? More salad. Cuz you know summer…shorts…bikini. ๐Ÿ™

I hear you, Tonya. I keep trying to do the same but then I can’t help myself and I look and wish I hadn’t. I’ve heard great things about the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale. And I need to eat more salad. Lordy, I’d be happy if I look okay in a tankini. Someday maybe I’ll be able to wear a bikini!

This winter seemed to go on and on and on! It does make you really appreciate the sunshine and warm temps. And putting away winter boots and sweaters back in storage!

I think Jannelle Monae is so beautiful! but sadly, I had never heard her sing before.

Good luck with the carbs! You are a very determined woman!

I am very excited for Avengers!!

Janelle is gorgeous. And I love her style too. She’s got a beautiful voice and her music reminds me so much of Prince. Oh those carbs. They kill me. Why do they have to taste so darn good! ๐Ÿ˜€ I liked Infinity War but it didn’t even come close to Black Panther for me.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes but the third one left me a bit meh unfortunately. But I love Sandra Oh! I hate swimsuits. Seriously. It’s like why. WHY! Some day I won’t fear wearing one!

One-piece suits are my jam. I feel so good in them, even though I’m FAR from a size 0

You and me both. Something good has to come from all this insanity, right? I appreciate those little skirts because they help cover up my thunder thighs. ๐Ÿ˜€

The trending topics on Twitter make me fear for nation’s sanity. Seriously…

What is new with me is that I am way behind on blog reading and posting on my own blog as well. The baby is not a fan of me being on my computer! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I get nervous every day when I check Twitter and see what’s trending. Man, it’s a good thing your baby is super cute because how rude! ๐Ÿ˜‰
