So okay, I read something. Yay me. And it took effort, real effort, to do so. I mean I enjoyed what I read. And I wanted to read what I read but … I’m still not feeling the reading love … yet. It’s there; I can feel the love lurking inside me, like a dormant pimple. One you want to appear so you can pop it (yup, I’m a pimple popper and know it’s wrong and gross and I have no idea why I’m sharing this with y’all) but won’t come until you gotta show your face somewhere more important than the grocery store. How I went from reading to pimple popping, I don’t know but I might be a writing genius.

C’mon, you know the song, right? Or am I just old? And possibly have bad music tastes too. Don’t judge! Nah, I’m cool being a nerd. I’m already a book nerd, might as well be a music nerd too! Since I traditionally use a song in the title of my annual best of books post, I chose Roxette beause I loved many, many books this year. And sure, sure, the next line in the song is “But it’s over now”, which also felt sadly appropriate. My love affair with books took a hit this year, but I still love them.
November Bookshelf: One is a Lonely Number but Still Better than Zero
Reading isn’t about quantity for me (I set no yearly reading goals) but enjoyment, and sometimes you go through a dry patch where nothing appeals to you. Murder? Nope. Ghosts and goblins? Nah. Chuckles galore? Uh-uh. Ooey gooey love story? Groddy to the max. Something enlightening or inspiring? Errrr … okay, I’ll try it. But I won’t promise to like it or read it. Maybe I’ll just pet the book lovingly and eventually read a page if I’m feeling feisty.
Some Bookish Questions for Me (and You too)
A little housekeeping for those who interested in my apple dessert recipe that I promised to post last Thursday: it’s coming. It’s delicious (seriously, the frosting is amazing) but … the pictures were not fabulous and I judge a recipe by how much the picture makes me drool or wanna lick the screen. Ugly food pictures make me wrinkle my nose in distaste, so I can’t imagine they tempt others either. Yes, I know this is like judging a book by its cover; sometimes it works and sometimes you get tricked! Ugly can be yummy!
September Bookshelf: Stuck at 2 Month
I had hoped to read more last month but alas that didn’t happen. Granted, I had also hoped to grow past age 10, but Lord love a duck that did not happen either. You just gotta roll with it, I guess. To be completely fair, it was my choice to not read more in September; it was NOT my choice to stop growing in the fifth grade. ๐
August Bookshelf: 2 Books is Progress
So last month I read 1.5 books so I’m pleased as Harry Potter winning the Quidditch Cup to have completed two whole books in one month. That’s right: 2 books. Sure, my normal average is around 5+ books per month but with my non-existent my reading mojo, I can’t complain. Well, not too much. And yes, I know — #FirstWorldBookNerdProblem and I’d probably feel guilty if I weren’t an American, where being a diva is a right. I take advantage of all my rights, including being a book diva and voting. ๐
