July is my birthday month and I’m sad to see it gone, although I ate everything and it shows. Maybe I took that indulgence thing a little too far, but it’s my birthday and apparently I’ll eat if I wanna … and boy, did I ever. Weirdly and somewhat unfortunately, I read a lot less than I ate and probably should have done the opposite, which is why hindsight is 20/20.

Welp. Another month has come and gone and I did not read as much as intended, which appears to be my new normal. I should feel grateful that I overall enjoyed what I read but it’s hard. Reading, for whatever reason, isn’t sparking the same joy as it has in the past. Thus my joy meter is low overall. But let’s not get depressing, okay? We’re here to talk books which does make my heart happy.

Oh look at me. Reading. Four books. That’s right. I said FOUR books. 1, 2, 3, 4 books. To be fair, it was actually more than four books. I reread a few books that I’m not including here. I don’t mean to brag but … I read three REAL books! That’s right, three REAL books, not two books and one cookbook but THREE books. My reading mojo is slowly coming back in spurts. A day or two of intense book love followed by a week or two of ambivalence towards all things book-related. But that’s okay because I read three books. And I even liked them. Maybe even loved one. Let’s hear it for me! And books!

Oh, look at me. Reading three books last month. That’s right. I read three books, which is one more than the previous month. I. Am. On. Fire. Not literally, of course. I paid attention in elementary school and know to stop, drop and roll versus blog while burning. Sadly, I think some would continue blogging until burnt to a crisp.
