August Recap

August Recap

September 1, 2016 by Tanya // 20 Comments

Whoa. Where did the summer go? It is already September, and I swear it was June, like two days ago. ๐Ÿ™‚ There was a time when I was pretty excited to flip the calendar to September since it meant cooler days were ahead. Now, I’m more ambivalent about it. And to be fair, September is generally hot in LA, although this year has been weird. July was quite hot but August was pretty nice. I’d like September to stay nice, if possible. I don’t do good in hot or cold weather. I’m sort of like the Goldilocks of weather. I want it just right.

What’s New with Me?

Honestly, not that much. I live a quiet life! But I can also make a mountain out of a molehill, so I’ll highlight a few keys moments from July (didn’t recap that month) and August.

Thank You Amazon and Apple

You were real jerks to raise e-book prices together but thank you for your settlement credits. I broke my Kindle a year ago and had to survive with just my iPad and real books. Boo-hoo, I know. But thanks to some last-minute credits and Amazon Prime Day, I had enough credits for a new kindle. YAY! I mostly love it. My old Kindle was truly old and not touch-screen. And I apparently have butter fingers because the font-size adjusts constantly. ARGH!

Max and my Kindle

Max claims my Kindle was a birthday gift from him. ๐Ÿ™‚

Home Sweet Home

I decided to take an impromptu trip back home to visit my family in Minnesota. And I got to experience WEATHER! In LA, it is sunny almost every day. I’m not complaining, although we could really use the rain. But in 7 days, I enjoyed thunderstorms, humidity and cool temperatures in MN. I also got a ton of vegetables from my Mom’s garden too. Nom. Nom.

Home Sweet Home

Look What I Made

Now to fun part — what to do with those glorious veggies. I chose to make a luscious Peach Tomato Caprese Salad that I adored. So, so good and so easy to make! Some of the zucchini went into a bread that I didn’t like. After I fainted from shock, because I never thought such a bread existed, I made these crispy Baked Cheesy Zucchini Tots. And they were yummy.

I Figured Out Trump’s Hair

Yup, it’s cat hair. The other day I was brushing the Max Man and I realized his fur looked just like the Orange Man’s hair. And after apologizing profusely to Max for the insult, I decided to sell MaxE’s hair for a billion dollars to him. It sounds like a fair price to me.

Max's fur is Trump's hair

Exercise Motivation

I’ve been having an issue with getting water in my ears when swimming. I tried ear plugs but I lost one. (I have weirdly tiny ears) So I bought a swim cap in hopes that will help. And a new beach towel. And new pool flip flops. And … I still don’t want to exercise.

But I did … after a lot of arm flapping (which counts as exercise in my world), teeth gnashing, moaning, whining, tears and lame excuses.

Favorite Cat Funny

This made me laugh way too hard.

cat memes

One of my co-workers had a cat who loved to sit on her husband’s lap while he used the toilet. Otherwise, not so much. Cat logic just cannot be rationalized.

More Cat Memes

This is my happy place.

Cat Memes

Funny Pictures

Yes, I spend too much time collecting funny memes but they make me happy!

Ummmm … guilty?

dog meme

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this too.

dog meme

I don’t think I have ever loved a dog more.

dog meme

I’m so freaking immature but fart jokes, memes and whatnot always make me laugh.

Best Heartwarming Story

This is the story to come back to again and again when you’re in the dumps, whether it’s life in general or you turned on the news and got depressed after five minutes.

Smiling dog

This happy, rescued dog hasn’t stopped smiling since he found his forever home and even a self-proclaimed #CrazyCatLady finds him adorable! Read his story, here.

    oh, that dog!!!

i’m the same way with animals and humans. i’ll run up to a dog and talk all kinds of things to it but when people talk to me, i mumble stuff and try to get away as fast as possible LOL.

I loved that story with the happy dog. So cute! I do the same thing. When I see someone with their pet, I’ll smile at the pet but ignore the human. So wrong! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I’m a total and complete weirdo! There’s a quote that I love – When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but also celebrate them with glad cries of “Me, too!, be sure to cherish them. Those weirdos are your tribe.”

I enjoyed the organizational layout of your post! It was a nice read.

We are all definitely a little weird. It is what makes us interesting, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ I swear his hair is cat hair, which is probably an insult to Max. Swimming is one of the very few exercises I am willing to do, so I’m trying to get over the water in the ear thing but it is hard. And I so easily justify not exercising!

OOh, I have to try those zucchini tots! They look so good! When you find some motivation to exercise please share! I’m in severe need of some. I LOL with the cat hair/Trump hair realization! Too funny! And love your cat memes!

Oh man! I’m not sure if I’ll ever find motivation to exercise. I’m not one of those people who feel bad when they don’t exercise. But I’m trying because I’m tired of how I look and feel. Yeah, cat hair = Trump hair, for real!

Everything that you cooked this month looks so good, but especially those zucchini tots! I need to try those out! Luckily, Dart doesn’t shed too much, but my sister has two collies that shed like crazy, so I know that she feels your pain with all the shedding! The whole eBook thing infuriates me! It blows my mind that sometimes the physical copy of the book will be cheaper than the electronic version. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! I loved my settlement from Barnes & Noble too!

Thanks, Ashley! Those zucchini tots were super tasty! Max is a shedding machine. My previous cat, Emeril, didn’t shed as much. But Max. I can’t keep up with it! I was so mad about the ebook thing too. And it is frustrating when you can find a cheaper physical copy. Grrrrrrr.

ha ha I love the one about the cat being fat, not pregnant. Although Pepe is a boy, I swear he looks like he is about to pop a little. Cats gain weight in old age too I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚

I laughed so hard at the meme. While my most recent cats have all been boys, I would definitely be the type of person to make that mistake too. Max is a large cat, but he is not fat. Yet. If he got fat, he would be a monster cat since he is nearly 18 pounds now!

One of my neighbors has a Trump sign and I have been trying to get my dogs to pee on it for weeks. Also, I think my cat is the only cat in history to give zero fucks about anything with catnip.

I love zucchini and am definitely going to try those tots! Yay for new recipes!

LOL! Go doggie! You can pee on that sign! Actually none of my cats have ever responded to catnip, which bums me out. I get the toys and I’m so excited to see their reaction and they have none. Cats! I hope you like those zucchini tots. They were tasty and I’m a huge zucchini fan too!

YES! Cats are not ashamed about anything they do. Max either laughs when I yell or just ignores me. ๐Ÿ™‚ Granted, he knows he has me wrapped around his paw.

LOL, our tuxedo cat loves to sit on the kids’ laps when they’re on the toilet – so weird!!! My mom’s friend owned a tuxedo cat that would actually use the toilet – isn’t that cool? Can you imagine no more litter clean up? Woohoo!

That is so funny and weird. Max likes to be in the bathroom with me, but that is more about not wanting to be left out and hating shut doors. I’ve always wanted a cat that could use the toilet. It would be awesome to not have to deal with litter boxes!
