A Mini Non-Political Rant and Entertainment Prompts because Why Not

A Mini Non-Political Rant and Entertainment Prompts because Why Not?

January 14, 2019 by Tanya // 10 Comments

So … I”m exhausted this Monday morning. Bone tired. Eyes barely open. And not because I’m Asian and my eyes are never wide open. Nope. My stupid fire alarm has been beeping every 20 minutes since 3:30 AM Sunday morning. There’s no fire (Thank God) or smoke. It’s not a low battery. Or dust or a creepy crawly disrupting the sensor (well, I don’t think so) but it appears from my diligent (aka frantic) research at 4:00 AM that my fire alarm is just at its end of life. I would like to take a hammer to it and speed up its demise.

Now you may be wondering why I haven’t called maintenance, since that’s one of the major perks of renting, to take care of the problem. Simple, they don’t work on Sundays. I don’t feel like I have the expertise to replace a fire alarm unit myself and deeply fear doing it incorrectly will make every alarm go off in my building.

And … well … I also can’t really reach the fire alarm very well. Even on my step ladder. On my tippy toes. While wearing platform shoes.

Plus, I’m not sure the answer to 2+2, so I figure I shouldn’t attempt anything I can’t do in my sleep. Apparently, though, I can blog in my sleep. πŸ˜€

Keep Me Entertained Prompts

When tired, do a prompt post is a my motto. Okay, I just made that up but it’s going to be my new motto from here on out. This comes from my buddy, Audrey, and we’re talking entertainment, which is a subject I love. And another reason why I’m able to answer the questions, somewhat coherently.

1. Books I’ve Read Multiple Times

I am a huge re-reader so there are lots. I almost always reread Harry Potter annually. I’ve also reread most of the In Death series by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts), which is 40+ books strong. Now to be fair, I didn’t reread every book in the series and sometimes I just reread my favorite sections because again — 40+ books. I’ve also reread The Hunger Games trilogy and too many other books to recall!

2. Favorite Book/Author of All Time

I don’t have a favorite author technically but more like favorite books and series.

3. Favorite TV Show to Binge

I do not binge many TV shows intentionally but more like I get behind and they pile up in my DVR. I have intentionally binged many episodes of Murder She Wrote and the horrible, yet totally addictive mystery movies on the Hallmark Channel. Also, I swear that I’m cool. Sort of.

4. Favorite New-is TV Show

I no longer consume massive amounts of TV, but I recently discovered Blackish and love it.

5. Favorite Movie of All Time

Yikes. It’s the All Time that’s a bit intimidating, ya know? Like my favorite movie today will be different tomorrow and the next day. It really depends on my mood. πŸ˜€ The Goonies is a classic that I love and will watch whenever I see it on TV. I also love the original Star Wars trilogy and outright hate the prequels and tolerate the more recent movies.

6. Movie You Are Looking Forward to Watching

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to see Creed 2 in the theaters, so I’m anxiously awaiting the release of Michael B. Jordan’s guns on video.

7. First Concert You Attended

New Kids on the Block! Yeah, I’m hangin’ tough and got the right stuff. πŸ˜€

8. Ultimate Concert

So I love music but I’m really not a big concert goer. I never pay attention to who’s coming to my area (and I live in LA so everybody comes here) and would rather bop around my apartment listening to my favorites. But my ultimate concert would feature my favorite performers singing MY favorite songs (versus whatever the hell they want to do), it would be something like this: Janet Jackson, Guns and Roses, Prince (Yes, I know he turned the pearly gates purple but my ultimate concert), Pink, NKOTB (What can I say? I’m sentimental), the Go-Gos, Dr. Dre, Lauryn Hill … to name a few. It would be eclectic and nonsensical but so much fun! For me, at least!

9. Favorite Music Artist/Band

I don’t know if I have a favorite but right now I’ve been listening to lots of 80’s and 90’s playlists on Spotify. Also, I’ve been listening to Milli Vanilli. Not ashamed. But I am going to Blame It on the Rain. Why? Cuz the Rain Don’t Mind. And it’s supposed to rain all week in LA.

10. How Do You Listen?

Spotify, baby.

Your Turn!

I told you mine, now you tell me what books or authors you love. Your favorite show or movie you can’t wait to see this year. Or go crazy — and grab the prompts and answer on your blog!

I’ll be loving NKOTB forever. πŸ˜€ I love movies too, although not as much as you do. Right now music is what’s ruling my world so I’m grateful something is at least making me happy.

I love how different our answers are πŸ™‚ Well, except Harry Potter!! Lol. Your concert sounds fun. Whoever is in charge of hiring people to put concerts together should hire US to put some concerts together πŸ™‚ I don’t know that we could get Prince to appear, but it’s worth a shot with holograms and what not πŸ˜‰

Darn tooting they should hire us! We’d put on amazing concerts and we wouldn’t rip people off, a la Frye Festival style.

    NKOTB – my kinda gal!!!!
I love Blackish – so funny! Last season I ended up binging the whole season & loved doing it that way so this year, I’m just waiting for it all to end so I can do the same thing.
I dont know what I’d do without Spotify!

NKOTB made my heart pitter patter so hard in junior high/early high school years. I finally got on the Blackish bandwagon after binging a few shows on FXX (it’s syndicated there) and fell in love with the show. I heart Spotify so much. I would truly be lost without it.

Seriously, I almost did. By the time I got the maintenance to fix it, I was a gibbering fool. Glad to find another Blackish fan. Such a great show!

NKOTB is always the right answer! πŸ™‚ And you obviously know that I am a fellow Murder She Wrote watcher as well as imbiber of Hallmark Movies and Mysteries πŸ˜€
Books and authors I reread over and over again is anything by Agatha Christie.

You’ll be so proud of me, Mackenzie. I just checked out my first Agatha Christie novel to read. I’ve only been promising to give her a try for the past …. forever. It’s been forever. πŸ˜€
