I love 3 Things posts, both as a reader and blogger. They are fun to read because I always learn interesting things about the blogger and (hopefully) my readers discover fun and new things about me too. I’ve written a couple 3 Things posts previously, here and here. These particular prompts came from my buddy, Jana, over at Jana Says. Let’s do this!
Three Foods I Hate and Refuse to Eat:
Oysters, liver and eel (sushi). I am extremely particular about fish. And hamburger.
Three foods I Love and Eat More of than I Should:
- Pizza — preferably vegetarian although recently I’ve become a fan of pepperoni, which I used to hate as a child.
- Eggs — I’m like Bubba from Forrest Gump but with eggs. I like them scrambled, fried, poached, hard-boiled, in a cake …. errrrr … omelette — you get the picture.
- Tortilla chips with salsa and guacamole ‘cuz I like Mexico.
Three Chores I Avoid until Absolutely Necessary:
Every chore. I have bought new underwear to avoid doing laundry. Uhhh … TMI?
Three Chores I Always Do:
Every chore. Some day I will either be rich so I can pay someone to clean my home or I will marry someone who will clean my home — it will be part of our vows or no “I do”!
I’d also like to train my cat, Max, to clean but my efforts to teach him how to high-five merely led to lowered self-esteem after enduring many haughty looks of disdain.
Three Wardrobe Staples
Flip-flops, running shorts (and no, I don’t run) and t-shirts. This is where I also mention I work from home and live in LA. Here is My Good Deed for the Day: You should never solely wear elastic waistband pants because you will get fat without noticing. Ahem.
Three Things I Donβt Spend Money On:
Manicures (never last more than a day), fake fingernails (can’t type or zip up pants wearing them) or streaming. It’s not that I don’t want Netflix or Hulu but my budget is lean and my cable is bundled with my Internet. And to get Internet alone costs the same (and sometimes even more) than a bundled plan. Some day I will know firsthand the greatness of Stranger Things but until then, I somehow manage to survive. π
Three Things I Do Spend Money On:
Max (he is indulged), quality paper (I adore fancy journals, notepads and notebooks) and good skincare products (I’m old).
Three TV Shows I Frequently Watch in Reruns:
Bones (just started binge-watching old episodes), Murder She Wrote (yes, I’m an old coot) and The Big Bang Theory (I no longer watch new episodes, just old ones).
Three Movies I Love (that Might Surprise You):
Resident Evil, even though I don’t play video games but tend to really enjoy movies based on them (Hitman, Tomb Raider). Horror movies, like The Conjuring, Insidious and Get Out, and I used to HATE horror movies as a child. I also really, really, really love Dumb and Dumber. It’s been years since I’ve watched it, so I have no idea how well it holds up, but it made me laugh until my belly ached. I ummm … really like low brow comedies.
Three Genres I Generally Donβt Read:
Romance (maybe one per year), non-fiction (except for self-help) and classics. I like Jane Austen but think of her fondly from when she was required reading versus someone who rereads her works every year.
Three Things Iβm Looking Forward to this Year:
The Blue Tsunami Wave making landfall on November 6, 2018, getting my shit together (not entirely sure what this entails yet but so excited for it to happen) and achieving and maintaining my weight goal.
Oh happy days, indeed.
Your turn! Pick one and tell me your three things or borrow this post for your own blog!
Tanya
So laughed about the underwear.
I want to watch dumb & dumber now. I laughed so hard thr first time I saw it, I nearly threw up.
Yep. Nails don’t last on me either.
Yesssss to pizza. Mmm. Could eat it every day
I hate to admit that I’ve bought new underwear more than once to avoid laundry too. π Hey, it’s better than wearing dirty underwear, right? Oh man, Dumb and Dumber made me laugh so hard that I almost peed my pants. Seriously, potty humor just makes me laugh. I can’t help myself! I am terribly envious of those who manage to keep their nails polished and beautiful but I can’t. I could eat pizza every day too. I truly wish I could do it too!
I don’t really read classics either but not because I actively avoid them like some other genres. I just don’t gravitate towards them.
I have never seen Dumb and Dumber. I’m not even 1% sorry about it.
Classics can be real hit and miss for me. Sometimes I struggle with the style differences and other times they just don’t interest me. Hehehehe. Dumb and Dumber. It’s obviously not your kind of movie but just thinking about it makes me giggle.
The diarrhea scene in Dumb and Dumber still to this day makes me laugh so hard I nearly throw up.
OMG! YESSSSSS!!! That scene was hilarious and I had to leave the room while watching it because I was afraid of peeing my pants.
Big fan of Bones in our house. Also, I don’t like oysters either. I tried them two summers ago and was NOT a fan. I know it’s weird, but I also dislike pizza. Lol!
Have you read the Bones books? I have not. I’m not sure if I could now because I’m so attached to the Bones crew as is. Every Christmas Eve, my Grandma made oyster stew growing up and we kids were horrified by it. I still refuse to try them although I do like clams, so I probably actually could handle oysters but refuse to try them. WHAT! You don’t like pizza???? Okay, deep breaths. It’s all good! π
I remember seeing Dumb and Dumber in the movie theater (was that really back in 1994?) and laughing soooooooo hard π
I hate romance novels too. But I do wear acrylic nails. I used to have a terrible habit of biting my nails as a kid and all while growing up. In order to stop that terrible habit, sometime around 18 or 19 years old, I started wearing acrylic nails and haven’t looked back. I’ve worn them for so long, I would feel weird not wearing them! π
Lord, 1994. I knew it was a long time ago but man, I feel ancient! Dumb and Dumber is seriously the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. I wish I could wear acrylic nails because they are beautiful in my opinion. I tried for a period and they looked great but I had such a hard time typing and such. Plus I decided to try contacts and knew there was no way I could put contacts in my eyes with fake nails so I could barely zip up my pants. But I can see how they are a part of you now.
I love these posts as well, and I just commented on Jana’s blog that I may have to steal/borrow this idea for a post at some point in the future. It’s fun to fill these out, and fun to read them (because I’m nosy).
I actually love all of your hated foods, but I also love your favorite foods. I hadn’t tried oysters until last November, but I was like, “Why was I holding out on these? So good!” Obviously not for everyone, though. π
I laughed so hard about your elastic waistband comment. Very true. Haha.
I’ve also bought new underwear (and also socks) to avoid doing laundry. I have a ridiculous amount of clothing, and I think the main reason I have so much is because I really hate doing laundry. I can go without doing laundry for over a month and still have clean stuff, but then it really sucks because I have to wash nearly everything I own. Why I do this to myself, I don’t know.
You’re lucky that your cable/internet bundle is the same (or maybe less) than just internet alone! That is definitely not the case here. Internet alone is still pretty expensive, but our cable/internet bill had ballooned to around $200/month when we decided to cut cable. I mean, that’s insane (and totally not worth it). It’s cheaper for us to have Netflix and internet than internet and cable.
I also love horror movies, and I don’t really read much from any of the book genres you listed either.
Honestly, my oyster hate is from when I was a kid and truth be told, I might be okay with them today because I like clams and mussels. But I just refuse to try them because they yucky. π Sadly, I know firsthand how fat you could get wearing elastic waistband pants all the time. I do that too – where I avoid doing laundry as long as possible and then grumble massively about all the clothes I’ve got a wash. The bundled deals are really good and most of the internet deals I find you have to really read the fine print. The first year is decent priced but almost doubles the second year and it’s a two year contract. Oh, how I used to hate horror movies. They gave me the worst nightmares but I now I enjoy some of them, like The Conjuring, but I still avoid the slasher type, like Saw. Those kind of movies don’t appeal to me.
“The Blue Tsunami Wave” What is this? Never heard of it! I love pizza too but I really have to avoid ever eating it. It doesn’t love me as much as I love it. Love Dumb and Dumber.
I love pizza so much but I don’t avoid eating, which may be part of the problem! It loves me a lot too, especially in the belly and hips! Dumb and Dumber is soooo funny. With all this talk about it, I need to rewatch it!
